Erasmus+

A Collaborative Project for Animal-Assisted Services: Animals for people

About the project

The “Animals for People” Erasmus + project (2021-2024) was developed around a unique collaborative teamwork aiming to promote the benefits of positive human-animal interactions and the inclusion of cats and farm animals in Animal-Assisted Services (AAS).

USAMV Cluj-Napoca was one of the partners of the consortium composed of Stowarzyszenie Zwierzęta Ludziom (SZL) from Poland (leading institution), the Norwegian Centre of Anthrozoology (NCofA) and the Institute for Applied Ethology and Animal Psychology (I.E.T) from Switzerland.

Together with the other partners, USAMV Cluj-Napoca has contributed to the development and testing of innovative tools for assessing the suitability of cats and farm animals to be included in AAS, as well as training programs that are accessible to future and current AAS practitioners and educators, including our students and the members of our academic community.

An important outcomes of the project is represented by an international publication on reccomendations for involving cats and farm animals in animal assisted interventions. This publication is now being included in the list of references related to the curricular offering of the master’s degree program “Ethology & Human-Animal Interaction” and of the bachellor’s program “Animal Behaviour and Welfare”, Faculty of Animal Science and Biotechnologies.

The outcomes of the project are available for free on the project’s website and on EPALE – Electronic Platform for Adult Learning in Europe:
